Report released on High River Gun Seizures

As MP for Macleod, I would like to draw attention to the report that has recently been released from the Civilian Review and Complaints Commission for the RCMP.

This report is in response to the gun seizures in High River that occurred during the June flood of 2013. At the time of the incident, our Government expressed grave concerns over reports firearms were being seized by RCMP from firearms owners in High River and the release of today’s report confirms our concerns were justified.

“Some of the activities described in the report were unacceptable and law-abiding Canadians should never be faced with unlawful searches and seizures of personal property,” said Macleod MP John Barlow. “I look forward to the immediate implementation of all the recommendations in this report. Our Government will always stand up for the rights of law-abiding firearms owners.”
