News Release: Leadership Endorsement

John Barlow, MP for Foothills, released the following statement today:

“I am pleased to announce today that I am supporting Andrew Scheer for leader of the Conservative Party of Canada.

Andrew is principled, bilingual, and he can unite our party. He is the clear choice to lead the federal Conservative movement.

“I am proud to endorse my friend, and colleague Andrew Scheer to be the next leader of the Conservative Party,” said Barlow. “Andrew will be a powerful advocate for southern Alberta’s families and rural communities, our energy sector, our agriculture industry, and our small businesses. Andrew is a strong, principled Conservative, whose decisive leadership, experience, and vision, are exactly what are needed as the Conservative Party moves forward to win the 2019 election.”

Scheer thanked MP Barlow for his support; “I am honoured to have John on board. He is a strong voice for his community and a valued member of our team. I am excited to work with him as our party prepares to defeat the Liberals in 2019.”

Andrew Scheer is the Member of Parliament for Regina-Qu’Appelle winning his seat in 2006 defeating a 40-year NDP incumbent. He is also bilingual, a former Speaker of the House of Commons, and has served as Conservative House Leader.
