MP Barlow was recognized for his continued support of Easter Seals Camp Horizon, including his annual Foothills Ride to Horizon. The inaugural event was held this past summer, and the second annual Ride to Horizon will be held on July 29 with a 100km ride from Bar U Ranch National Historic Site to Bragg Creek, followed by a welcome reception at Easter Seals Camp Horizon.

Registration is $100 and participants are asked to raise $500 in pledges to benefit Easter Seals Camp Horizon’s $10 million renovation project. More information is available at: https://www.facebook.com/Foothills-Ride-to-Horizon http://www.easterseals.ab.ca/CampSite/EasterSealsCampHorizon.aspx

It is an honour to be given this prestigious award from Easter Seals Alberta and to be associated with great Canadians like Norm Kwong and Jim Flaherty. For myself and our team of volunteers and sponsors, it is truly a privilege to work with such an outstanding group as Easter Seals. However, the people who deserve this honour are the young people from across Alberta who use Camp Horizon. These are youth who attend camp to simply be kids and it is their courage and enthusiasm which inspired the Ride to Horizon.
– John Barlow, M.P. for Foothills

Although camp is just a little piece of the Foothills constituency, the over 1,200 campers with disabilities and medical conditions are of all ages and come from all over the province, in fact some campers are from across Canada. Thanks to John’s Foothills Ride to Horizon, we are able to make critical repairs to our facilities and utilities to make sure Easter Seals Camp Horizon is here for campers with disabilities for another 50 years.
